Foods that Lower Cholesterol

Lower Cholesterol

Lower Cholesterol

Eating a diet rich in processed, unhealthy foods can raise your cholesterol. Luckily, there are other, more fiber soluble foods, which can help to lower it.

Fatty fish, such as salmon, tuna, halibut and herring are rich in cholesterol lowering omega-3 fatty acids. In order to get the most benefit from these fish, you should eat them baked or grilled. If fish isn’t your thing, you can eat a handful of nuts, such as walnuts, almonds, pecans or pistachios.

Beans, high fiber fruits, such as apples, oranges and grapes, eggplant, okra and soybeans are also excellent sources for helping to lower cholesterol. In fact, adding fruit to your oatmeal, which is also high in fiber, can help to keep your cholesterol in check.
