Most women would love to have long, beautiful, healthy and strong nails. Instead most of us have dry, brittle nails. Nice long nails add such a flattering and feminine characteristic to your hands. I have found a few steps that helped me on my journey to turn my dry brittle nails into strong, shiny and healthy nails.
Watch What Your Eat
Your diet has a lot to do with the growth and condition of your nails. If they are dry and brittle than you may want to take a multivitamin or incorporate more nuts, veggies and fruit into your diet. Water also makes a big factor, many people do not get enough water to to stay hydrated which can result in nails that are dry, brittle and do not grow.
File Off Rough Edges
Make sure to maintain smooth edges. Compromized areas, if left untreated, will just get worse resulting in chipping/splitting/or breaking.
Protect With a Base Coat
Protecting your nails with a base coat that will promote strength growth and strength will help tremendously.
Back Off The Polish
Leaving them alone for awhile. Nail polish is full of chemicals and tends to dry nails out.
Regularly moisturizing helps promote faster nail growth and prevent dryness of cuticles. Apply a vitamin-rich lotion every time you take a bath, wash your hands and before going to bed.
Using a high quality lotion or oil, massage your nails and cuticles. This helps promote increased nail growth of your nails by improving the blood flow to the area.
Try a Growth Formula
Products such as China Glaze Nail Strengthener & Growth Formula, will help by providing your nails with the necessary vitamins and proteins that promote strength and new growth.
Don’t Bite Your Nails
Biting your nails is very damaging and stunts nail growth.
Avoid Fake Nails
Fake nails put on with the drill, this is so bad as it kills your nails!! The drill is so hard on them not to mention the harsh chemicals that are applied during the appointment to keep them from breaking are adding to the problem. If you insist on getting nails put on, go to a professional salon where they use a nail file. This way is much more gentle, yes I know it is more expensive but it is so worth it!
