How to wash your face

Different skin types require different washing regimens. Knowing your skin types and how to treat it can keep your skin healthy. With the right cleanser, a little bit of warm water and your fingertips, you skin can reap the benefits of being well cared for.

Washing Dry Skin

Only wash your face with mild or gentle cleansers that are designed for dry skin. Never scrub your skin as it can cause your skin to loose moisture and become dry and flaky, or encourage breakouts. Never use hot water, as it can cause your skin to loose hydration.

Washing Oily Skin

Use gentle face wash that is oil free or noncomedogenic (won’t clog pores). Never scrub your skin, instead use a gentle exfoliator a couple times a week to remove dead skin cells. Don’t over wash your face. Washing your skin twice a day is ideal. However, on days you workout, it is ideal to wash your face once you are done perspiring to avoid breakouts.

Washing Sensitive Skin

Sensitive Skin – Use a gentle cleanser that is fragrance free, and ideally created for sensitive skin. Wash your face twice daily with warm water. Never use hot water as it can irritate your skin. After you have cleansed your skin, turn the water to cold to close up your pores.

Washing Combination Skin

Use a gentle cleanser with salicylic acid to help control oil where your skin is oily and provide hydration to the dryer spots of your skin. Choosing noncomedogenic products can also help create balanced skin. Wash your face twice a day with warm water to avoid irritation and breakouts.
