Pregnancy can bring a woman many different emotions, first being the excitement of bringing a life into this world, second the awesome journey of becoming a mom and third all the ups and downs of the emotional roller coaster along the way!

Weight Gain

A lot of pregnant women think “because I pregnant, I can eat anything I want”. This is not the case and is actually the leading cause of stretch marks. Weight gain during pregnancy in inevitable, with that said, eating the right foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, proteins and dairy, can have a significant impact on how much weight you may gain and how fast. Gaining weight gradually allows your skin to slowly stretch and gives it a chance to acclimate. The more rapid the weight gain, the higher chance of stretch marks, so, make sure to stay away from processed foods as much as possible.

 

Drink Plenty Of Water

Your need to consume approximately 2 liters (10-12 glasses) of water a day during pregnancy to stay properly hydrated. Without adequate water, your skin will not be able to retain its elasticity and remain soft which will lead to stretch marks. Avoid excessive pop, coffee and even tea because they contain caffeine, a major culprit of dehydration.

Moisturize Your Skin

Moisturizing your skin is critical to preventing stretch marks.
