Preformed vitamin A is found in meat, fish and dairy products. The highest source of this type of vitamin A comes from beef liver or fish oils. Provitamin A is found in leafy greens, as well as tomato products, fruits, orange and yellow vegetables and some vegetable oils. The highest source of this type of vitamin A comes from squash, cantaloupe, carrots and broccoli. Milk and eggs are the only foods that contain both preformed and provitamin A.
