Question: What are the white spots inside my lips?
Answer:
White spots on the inside of your lips can be indicative of several different conditions, ranging from a simple canker sore to the more serious oral cancer. In most cases, the spots will clear up on their own, especially if the are caused by having a cold or if you’ve been chewing on your lips due to stress.

Canker sores and cold sores can appear inside the mouth as well. While a cold sore is caused by the contagious herpes virus, a canker sore has no clear cause and is not contagious. Both will clear up in a few days or a week, but can be painful and may require medication to address the pain.

If you are smoker or chew tobacco and have recurring sores or sores that don’t seem to go away, you should consult your doctor immediately to check for oral cancer.
